Contact Lenses

Daily Wear

Daily wear lenses have a lot of benefits.  They are more comfortable, more convenient, and pose a lower risk for eye infections.  They are also an excellent option for people who only wear contacts occasionally or are experiencing discomfort from monthly lenses.

Monthly Wear

Monthly wear lenses are still the most common modality.  They’re often the least expensive and provide the the widest range of powers and options such as astigmatism correction, multifocals, colors, etc.  They don’t always provide the comfort or convenience of the dailies however.

Lenses for Astigmatism

Some people have been told that they can’t wear contacts because they have astigmatism.  This is not true!  Toric contacts are pretty good these days.  They’re a little trickier to fit, but we can make them work for most people.

Multifocal Lenses

These lenses are designed to proved power for both distance and near, for people over the age of 40.  They can reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses, but are not perfect for everybody.

Colored Contacts

These are lenses that change or enhance eye color.

Extended Wear Lenses

While we never recommend sleeping in your contacts, we know that some people are going to do it anyway.  If you do, please let us know, so we can fit you in a lens that is more appropriate for this.

Control of Myopia (near-sightedness) Progression

A recent study has shown a certain design of multifocal soft contact can reduce progression of myopia by about 50%.   This can be beneficial for children who are at a higher risk for developing high myopia or near-sightedness.

Rigid Gas Permeables (RGP’s)

Fitting standard rigid lenses is no problem.  If you need them for special reasons such as keratoconus or corneal reshaping therapy, we typically refer to someone who specializes in that.
