Eye Health

We evaluate and treat a wide variety of eye health conditions and refer to trusted surgeons and specialists when needed.  These are some examples of the more common eye health conditions that are seen:

Eye infections (pink eye)

These are typically caused by viruses, bacteria, allergies, or wearing contacts improperly.

Dry eye and blepharitis

This is caused by a surface inflammation of the eye and/or eyelids.  It can cause the eyes to feel scratchy, dry, and irritated.  It can also cause vision to blur intermittently and the eyes to water uncontrollably.

Scratched eye and Foreign Bodies (something stuck in the eye)

We can evaluate and treat corneal abrasions (scratched eye) and remove foreign bodies (such as metallic objects) from the surface of the eye.

Diabetic Retinopathy

This is bleeding, swelling, etc. in the back of the eye as a result of diabetes.  It is important that diabetics be checked for this annually.

Flashes and Floaters

This is typically what is known as a vitreous detachment.  When these are noticed suddenly, it is important to be seen to rule out a more serious retinal tear or detachment.

Glaucoma is nerve damage in the eye, which is often (but not always) caused by a high fluid pressure in the eye.

A cataract is the clouding of the lens inside the eye, which causes foggy, blurry vision and difficulty with glare.
